"Maestros on Main" is dead; long live "Takin' Turns." Actually, the only thing that's changed about this bi-monthly music circle is the name and the venue. The Tipper Restaurant on Kingsway has a separate room at the back called The Review Room, and it's perfect for this event. First, there's a good-sized stage with space to spare for at least five musicians (the last show at Cafe Montmartre was a bit cramped). Second, The Review Room is separate from (but connected to) the main restaurant area and so offers an intimate listening environment. Third, the food is good and reasonably priced, and the beer's always on special.

In addition to all of this, I sense that the owner is willing to help a unique, reoccurring music event such as this get off the ground. I first met Colin when I inquired about holding my CD launch party there; I got a good vibe from him and his restaurant, and the party was a huge success.

Sunday 8th January will be the first "Takin' Turns" music circle at The Tipper starting at 8 o'clock and featuring Rob Fillo, Emad Armoush, and Taylor Harp. Don't miss it!
